If everything is fine or you installed the java -
  • Wait for the Java applet to download (about a minute the first time you visit).
  • In the vacant box 'Your nickname' - Enter something like BigTrucker - then you are ready to chat! - click 'Connect'
  • You can float the chat box by clicking on the little box just above the usernames. If you click on the box a second time then the chat window will enlarge to fit you screen. If you wish to 'unfloat or embed' the chat window, click the little bar where the box was. Hit the X to close.
  • Once inside the room you type into the dialogue box at the bottom (the dark blue area), to send your message simply press the 'Enter' key on your keyboard.

Private Conversations or Messages with other users (pm)
To send a private message (pm) all you need do is double click on the name that you wish to send to. You will now see all previous messages dissappear - you have opened up a private room with the person that you are messaging! The receiver of the message sees the message in the chatroom with * beside the name (nobody else can see it), It will look like this *<andy>* Hi there!, to respond to a pm follow the above steps.

When it is time to go back to the main chatroom, look to the bottom of the applet (just bellow the black dialogue box) you will see the persons name that you are pming and #aacukchat. Click on #aacukchat to return to the main room, likewise click on the persons name if you wish to return to pm with them.

What or who is @NovaBot?
Don't worry - it's not a spy or something sinister like that! @NovaBot is merely a robot programme the enables the admin of the room to kick out offending people, mute them, warn them & things like set up bad words protection.

How to change your password
You type the following in to the black dialoque box:
/msg nickserv set password new-password
new-password is whatever you wish to set your password to so it would look something like this:
/msg nickserv set password ducky2
